1984
Morton adds a new System Saver® salt formula to Morton Pellets, creating a water softener product that prevents water-deposit buildup in tanks.
Morton deeds 1,200 acres of Salt Lake wetlands in Utah to the Nature Conservancy.
Morton grants $1 million to the construction of the Henry Crown Space Center and Omnimax Theater at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. This follows an earlier significant financial pledge to the U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
1988
Morton acquires the Mines Seleine rock salt mine in Quebec, Canada. The mine provides ice control salt for Quebec, the Atlantic provinces of Canada and U.S.’s eastern Seaboard.
1998
Morton celebrates 150 years of producing high quality salt products.
