Morton Salt and The Morton Arboretum: A Shared Commitment to Trees
For the last century, Morton Salt has enjoyed a close, shared history with The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL.
The Morton Arboretum was founded in 1922 by Joy Morton (1855-1934), founder of Morton Salt. When Joy Morton established The Morton Arboretum, he envisioned a great outdoor museum of trees. The Morton family has a long-standing connection to tree-planting efforts for the benefit of future generations. Joy Morton’s father was the founder of Arbor Day, and Joy Morton continued to be a passionate advocate for tree planting and conservation.
Over the decades, the Arboretum has continued to evolve, while staying true to the Morton family motto, “Plant Trees.” Today, the Arboretum grows and displays a rich diversity of trees, shrubs, and other plants in its living collections, including more than 4,100 different kinds of plants, and it is a leading authority on tree science and conservation.

It is with great pride that Morton Salt continues to contribute toward conserving biodiversity and fostering a sustainable future through its partnership with The Morton Arboretum, a living testament to the Morton family’s commitment to trees.
